Like many great brands, Skullcandy was born out of a problem. In 2003, Founder, Rick Alden, was riding a chairlift in Park City, Utah and technology at the time made it impossible to switch from his music player to his phone. So Rick decided that the world needed a better solution. He’d start a company that would not only make a better headphone, but also make it fit the snowboarding lifestyle. That was the moment when Skullcandy became the original audio lifestyle brand. And they’ve never looked back.
Even though young in age, Skullcandy has already left a mark on the industry. In December 2008, Forbes named the company to have the “world’s coolest ear bud,” and they landed a spot in the Utah Business Fast 50 in 2008, as one of the top 40 best and most innovative companies throughout the state. In the years following Skullcandy has achieved accolades that include #1 most sold brand by units, #1 consumer choice and third most-sold headphone, all in the U.S. marketplace.
With practicality in mind, Skullcandy has designed their products to be put to the test. They were made to be dependable and available when consumers needed them the most. This is something Vanguard Software is helping with:
“Vanguard has enabled Skullcandy to be more automated and calculated with our Demand Planning. We are now able to see our sell-in, sell-through, customer projected forecast, open orders, on-hand inventory and promotional lifts all on one screen and have the system predict our demand using these inputs. The usability and thorough on-boarding and configuration process offered by Vanguard enabled us to completely migrate from our historical software very quickly.”
Skullcandy started evaluating forecasting and planning software solutions due to having a large product catalog with frequent new product introductions, and on top of all of that, many of them have a short lifecycle. As an omnichannel company, Skullcandy also runs many promotions on their products. This dynamic of products needed across different channels and times based on many moving variables, allowed Vanguard Predictive Planning to surpass other solutions when being compared. Vanguard’s scalability also sets us apart allowing for a long-term partnership.
As a company, our goal is to make your planning process simpler and more streamlined without sacrificing accuracy. For Skullcandy that was providing reasoning to all that they had going on as an ambiguous company with innovation happening every day. What does that look like at your company?
