The Load-Balancing Gateway allows you to set-up a high-capacity, high-availability server farm. The gateway provides a single point of access through which all traffic passes. The health of any number of Vanguard servers is continually monitored so that traffic can be routed to the least busy machine. Also, you can take down servers for maintenance and the gateway will route traffic to the remaining servers.
The net effect of using the Load-Balancing Gateway is that you can easily scale-up your capacity and your network will never be impacted by single computer failures.
