Vanguard Predictive Planning Overview
A Q&A series with the cloud IBP platform powered by probabilistic forecasting
No, the Predictive Planning platform is not brand new. He was born in 2011 from a culmination of 20 years of forecasting and planning expertise. But perhaps you haven’t met him yet. To break the ice, we’re going to post a Q&A, sharing some of Vanguard’s values and secrets as a market-leading integrated business planning platform, built to auto-optimize business plans. ‘Meet Vanguard’ will be a series of posts, so stay tuned for future reveals.
Vanguard, what is one of your core values as a cloud IBP platform?
First and foremost, I am Unified. One of the things I hold myself most accountable for is ensuring all of my users have access to the most up-to-date information when they are making important planning decisions.
How do you accomplish this?
Well, I go for a short run every morning, stay hydrated, and eat lots of vegetables. Just kidding. I can’t do those things because I live in the cloud, which is part of the true answer to your question. With a Cat-4 cloud service infrastructure – comprised of five (5) multi-tenant, redundant data centers around the globe – I can ensure planning data is continuously synced and stored in a secure, reliable way. I must also mention my database, who I call UHIO, affectionately. It’s short for Unified, High-performance, In-memory, Object database and she enables fast and powerful analytics so I can better model, predict, and plan for the future of businesses.
What does this mean for your customers?
My customers are often delighted to see that once a change is committed to my database, it propagates throughout all departmental plans in real time. Their prior experiences with stagnant data, contradicting forecasts, and misaligned plans have come to an end, and they can focus on improving the business as a planning unit. Whether a user is part of a demand planning team trying to determine the latest forecast after marketing announced a promotional event, or they’re in charge of purchasing the materials intended to be sold, they can rest assure they’ll always be in-the-know while using Vanguard.
