The Vanguard Academic Partnership Program is designed
to enrich student learning experiences and faculty
research opportunities by integrating the Vanguard
System™ into academic institutions around the
world. We will be donating over $8 million
in software licenses and services to participating
faculty members and their academic institutions over the
next several years in support of this program.
The Vanguard System is a comprehensive business
solution for improving the quality, reliability, and
speed of management decisions. It does this by helping
you Collaborate with colleagues
on important plans, Analyze alternatives
using state-of-the-art modeling and simulation
techniques, Automate routine
decisions using expert system technology, and Improve
overall management effectiveness by adding
structure to a normally chaotic process.
Seeking Partners
Vanguard is actively seeking faculty members who are
interested in:
- Bringing the Vanguard System into their courses;
- Using the Vanguard System in their research; and
- Contributing models to the Vanguard Global
Knowledge Portal.
As a participating faculty member, you can determine
your level of involvement, from coordinating the donation
to simply using the Vanguard System to further your
research. Vanguard Software will work with you to
determine the size and scope of the donation that best
serves the needs of your academic institution.
Classroom
Today’s most competitive companies are
integrating advanced planning, analysis, and automation
software tools with their core business processes to
improve productivity and performance. As a result,
successful employees must not only possess a solid
understanding of decision-support concepts, but they must
also possess first-hand experience using these latest
software tools to solve real-world business problems.
Vanguard Software will help you develop an effective
integration plan that brings the Vanguard System into the
classroom to provide a dynamic, value-adding student
experience. Classroom integration may include the joint
development of lecture materials, projects and
assignments, software tutorials, and more.
Research
The Vanguard System allows you to build complex
analytical models and decision-support applications
quickly and efficiently, thus improving the productivity
and quality of your research. Our visual model layout
also improves your ability to communicate complex
problems to students, colleagues, and your corporate
research partners.
Vanguard Software encourages collaboration between its
Professional Services Group and faculty on research and
consulting projects, publications, and conference
presentations. As opportunities arise, Vanguard Software
may invite you to participate in funded research and
consulting projects.
Global Knowledge Portal
Participating faculty members can regularly contribute
useful and meaningful models to the Vanguard Global
Knowledge Portal. The Global Knowledge Portal is a
free-access, shared library of models ranging from simple
calculators to complex algorithms to sophisticated
business models. The library’s Web-based, Wiki-style
interface allows the Vanguard System user community to
contribute, search, run, and download models.
Through continued use and contribution, the Global
Knowledge Portal has become a key resource for
professional modelers and decision makers. It reaches a
world-wide audience of academic, business, and government
users and provides a high level of exposure for your
innovative research activities.

Content Management System (CMS)
Vanguard Content Management System (CMS) is a Web-based expert system development tool for non-programmers. CMS Web-based applications guide customers or employees through complex decision-making processes using interactive, automated question and answer sessions. They are core software applications that can improve the operational efficiency of your key business processes.
Vanguard CMS helps students and instructors with no programming knowledge learn decision-support theory. CMS users build expert systems using CMS Web-based visual editors much like common word processing software. The user-friendly development environment of CMS opens up decision support software development to fields of study outside of computer science and software engineering. Teachers, students and researchers in management, engineering, finance, law, and other areas that study decision making can automate their expertise in CMS applications to teach methodologies and test theories.
