Use Vanguard's High-Performance Grid
Grid Computing is used to improve the performance of
Monte Carlo simulations by dividing the simulation task
between many computers. To use Grid Computing with
Vanguard, you can set up your own grid using the Grid Computing Add-in for
Vanguard System™ or you can use Vanguard's Hosted
Grid Service.
Vanguard maintains a high-performance computer grid
that is available for use as a paid subscription service.
Vanguard's grid is fast, reliable,
secure, and easy-to-use.
Compatible with All Systems
Vanguard's Grid Service is compatible with any
Vanguard Studio™ or Vanguard System™ setup as
long as you have internet access. You won't have to
change your models in any way. In fact, about the only
difference you will notice is that your simulations run
about 25 times faster. For example, a 10-minute
simulation will now run in about 30 seconds.
How It Works
When you initiate a Monte Carlo simulation, you have
the option of running locally on your own computer or
remotely on the Grid. When you choose the Grid, Vanguard
assembles all model components into a job package,
compresses and encrypts the package, and sends it to the
Grid Broker via the Internet. Once the job is received,
the Grid Broker divides the job between all available
computers and manages the simulation. When the simulation
is complete, the results are transmitted back to your
computer.

Security
Vanguard maintains the highest possible security
standards. All communication between your computer and
the Grid is encrypted. In addition, there is no permanent
trace of your models once your simulation is complete.
So, you can rest assured that your models and data will
remain private.
Using the Hosted Grid Service is a great way to take
advantage of high-performance computing resources without
the expense of setting up your own computer grid.
