Optimization Add-in
The Optimization Add-in gives you the ability to
perform linear program (LP) optimization,
integer program (IP) optimization, non-linear,
single value optimization, and stochastic
optimization.
Optimization is used for allocating resources most
efficiently. It allows you to find input values for your
model that maximize or minimize a result. This is useful
for resource allocation problems such as choosing the
product mix that maximizes profit given limited raw
materials and resources.
Vanguard's Stochastic Optimizer can
solve any optimization problem. There are no requirements
regarding linearity, discontinuities, or other model
characteristics that restrict the applicability of
virtually all other optimization tools. The Stochastic
Optimizer even supports Grid-based computing, making it
possible to solve massive problems using spare CPU time
on your colleague's desktop computers.
Since Vanguard's optimization functions are completely
modular, you can build models that perform an
optimization as only one small component in a more
complete analysis including:
- Automatically importing and structuring your
data,
- Performing an optimization, and
- Exporting data back to your business systems.
Vanguard's LP/IP optimization routines support an
unlimited number of variables and constraints.
